It is shocking when Josef Fritzls and Shakuni Mamas abuse their positions of power and trust and cause havoc on their children and relatives.
And, they try to get away with their crimes, by attributing their evil acts and telling the victims that it is a 'figment of their imagination'.
Shakuni Mamas plot the downfall of their own relatives for their selfish motives like trying to move in rent-free in the estate of fathers of orphans (despite knowing that the orphan has also been promised the same) and instigating domestic violence against innocent children as well.
Who will rebuke Shakuni Mamas?
Man gets 10 years jail term for raping minor niece in New Delhi
14 May 2009
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping his minor niece, terming his act as "diabolic and barbaric".
"The word 'Mama' for maternal uncle has two 'Ma' in it. The accused by his diabolic and barbaric acts betrayed the trust and respect reposed upon him by his real sister and his family," Additional Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma said.
The court awarded the prison term along with a fine of Rs 15,000 on accused Mohd Zakir, 36, holding him guilty of rape under Section 376 and of criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC.
It also said the relationship of a maternal uncle and his niece was sullied by the acts of the accused.
"In our traditional Hindu and Muslim society, be it conservative or modern, a maternal uncle commands and enjoys a great deal of respect in the family particularly from his nephews and nieces. The accused exploited his niece for his sadistic and perverted sexual needs," the court said.
It also rejected a plea of the accused that there was no corroboration of the 14-year-old victim's statement, saying her version was "credible". The court also relied on the victim's medical report which proved the charges.
Zakir was arrested on October 19, 2005, after a complaint was lodged with Sarai Rohilla police station in north Delhi, alleging he had raped his niece during a period of eight months.
