The high court on Thursday allowed the criminal petition filed by Kumar V Jahgirgar and quashed the August 27, 2007 FIR registered against him by the Banashankari police following a complaint by Aaruni, his daughter.
The petitioner had countended that his ex-wife Chetana -now wedded to former India cricket Anil Kumble - was responsible for his own daughter filing that complaint against him. The police had registered a criminal initimidation case against him.
The petitioner, who is Aaruni's biological father, had sought quashing of further proceedings following a complaint registered against him by his daughter with the Banashankari police on August 26, 2007.
Chetana, who married Jahgirdar on June 6, 1986 divorced him on April 17, 1999. Aaruni was born on December 12, 1994. The family court had given custody of Aaruni to Chetana, the biological mother, and gave the father visiting rights. Chetana married Anil Kumble on July 1, 1999.
When Jahgirdar came to meet Aaruni on August 26, 2007, she is said to have stated that since she was busy with exams, she would be available for two days that week. But, Jahgirdar shouted and created a scene. So a complaint was lodged.
