CHANDRAPUR: In a shocking incident, a man thrashed his elderly mother to death with iron rod after she refused to give him pocket money on Monday night.

According to information, the accused, Jayesh Borkar (33), a resident of Bhawani ward, Kurzha in Bramhapuri, used to work as a waiter in a bar. He left the job and was unemployed since the last few months. After his mother Nirmla (65) got pension on Monday, Jayesh asked for pocket money, but his request was turned down.

"In a fit of rage, Jayesh dragged her out of the house and struck her with iron rod on the head and abdomen. As Dyneshwar, the accused's elder brother, saw his mother bleeding profusely, he rushed her to the rural hospital, but she breathed her last mid way," said Bramhapuri police.

Later, Dyneshwar lodged a complaint after which the cops arrested the accused. The iron rod too was seized. Jayesh has been booked on charges of murder. Further investigation is underway.
