Fiance of a girl eliminated to facilitate illicit relationship:Woman, paramour held for murder
August 5:
The Yelahanka police have arrested a woman and her paramour in connection with a murder case.

Lakshmamma (40) from Attibele and Narayan Reddy (23) from Palamaneru village in Chittor taluk are the arrested. According to police, Lakshmamma was a housekeeper at Rohan Vasanth Apartments at Marathalli.

She had an affair with Reddy, who was working in the guest house in of the apartments. She was staying at the house of Rajamma at Sarjapura.

Lakshmamma thought of striking wedding alliance between Reddy and Mallika, the daughter of Rajamma and continue her affair with Reddy later. But Mallika was engaged to Krishna Kumar (25), son of a mason at Ambedkarnagar, police said.

However, Lakshmamma introduced Reddy to Mallika.

Mallika’s refusal

After frequent meetings, Lakshmamma suggested Mallika to marry Reddy, but the former refused. Lakshmamma and Reddy thought Mallika would forget Krishna Kumar if they kill him and thus pave way for Reddy-Mallika wedding.

Reddy lured Krishna Kumar to come with him to Kolar on the pretext of getting him a job. They left for Kolar on July 12 on Krishna Kumar’s bike.

Arrest
Reddy made Krishna Kumar consume liquor, stabbed him at a forest area at Byraddypalli in Chittor, drove till Muderahalli in Kolar, left the bike and absconded, added the police. The duo were arrested on August 2.

However, sources in the police said Mallika is the one who hatched a conspiracy to kill Krishna Kumar but, she was let-off under ‘political pressure’.

Scribe in murder case

In a similar case, the Rajajinagar police have arrested Bharathi (35), Michael (29), Prabhu (22), Selvam (26) and Saravan (33) on the charge of murdering Vimal Kumar of Laggere. All the five hail from areas near Vellore in Tamil Nadu and Saravan is a reporter with a popular Tamil newspaper, police inspector A G Kariyappa said.

Bharathi, a widow, allegedly had an alleged affair with Michael. She wanted her daughter Praveena part ways with her husband Vimal Kumar and marry Michael. She thought Michael would get the property which Praveena would inherit from her father, if Praveena married Michael. She presumed the wedding would enable her to continue affair with Michael without any hurdles. The suspects took Vimal Kumar from Rajajinagar in a car on July 16, strangled him at Krishnagiri, set the body on fire and returned to Bangalore, the police said.
