She had an affair with Reddy, who was working in the guest house in of the apartments. She was staying at the house of Rajamma at Sarjapura.

After frequent meetings, Lakshmamma suggested Mallika to marry Reddy, but the former refused. Lakshmamma and Reddy thought Mallika would forget Krishna Kumar if they kill him and thus pave way for Reddy-Mallika wedding.
Reddy lured Krishna Kumar to come with him to Kolar on the pretext of getting him a job. They left for Kolar on July 12 on Krishna Kumar’s bike.
Reddy made Krishna Kumar consume liquor, stabbed him at a forest area at Byraddypalli in Chittor, drove till Muderahalli in Kolar, left the bike and absconded, added the police. The duo were arrested on August 2.
However, sources in the police said Mallika is the one who hatched a conspiracy to kill Krishna Kumar but, she was let-off under ‘political pressure’.
